"Well it depends.
Do the residents want it? They’re the ones living there."

What the fuck? What resident wants to be cordoned off and required to provide their identification or be sent away from their neighborhood upon threat of arrest?

'I'm sorry, officer, I had no idea that it was 'nazi-regime' day because that executive order of yours hadn't come down yet! Unfortunately, I was just walking up the street to get the Sunday paper and a gallon of milk before I went to church. - Yes, I see. - You're so right: 'Well, thank goodness I am white.' Have a great day."

I don't know much, I'll give you that, but I do know that D.C.'s police force, like most of America, applies its laws in a pretty openly discriminatory manner. Who do you think this is most likely to affect? My guess is undocumented immigrants and non-white citizens.

And personally, even if that's not the case, the government should not be using the police to enforce social mores or freedom of association. Fuck that. What's next, requiring me to only associate with jerks in uniforms? Or maybe the white middle class kids can't play with the lower-class ones anymore, right? Because cordoning off and isolating by the government is "acceptable" -Right?

Public safety is undefined. Investigation of 8 murders is not. End of story.

You should be embarrassed, paperdreamer.

I live in a surrounding DC area (Mo County). I think this is totally uneccessary, DC is not that bad anymore. What they need to be focusing is all the illegals from VAthat are bringing the crime rate up in the surrounding areaa. And why DC residents are being kicked out of there neighborhoods for new "white" developments. Thats a question that needs to be answered. They should bring that to Baltimore because thats were the real crime is happening. DC has calmed down alot. It would make more sense to have had this in the 90's. But it ain't that bad. I mean the go-go scene has seriously died down (In my opinion) so there isn't a lot of fakery in the parties anymore. I dunno I think its just dumb...seems to me like someones trying to show Fenti they are doing their job so they don't get fired.

And for the record, I didnt say it was just Anacostia, I said there are bad neighborhooods mixed in, but DC STILL, isnt as bad as some would like to think or portray it to be.

No, DC is not that bad, crime is pretty much isolated to over Anacostia with some bad parts mixed in, but DC is the kind of place where unless you go looking for trouble, its really not going to find you, I love living in DC.

Oh I am sure certain organizations are watching this closely, the NAACP came out against this, which is moronic to say the least because every single person that died over the weekend, there were 9 I believe were ALL African American, so its not like they are “profiling” people when the majority of these neighborhoods are all African American. 1 died over a domestic dispute, another over a dice game....and they were not all kids, most of them were grown men. What is there to do for people who have the nerve to kill someone so quick over a domestic dispute, what is there to argue about that is worth shooting ANOTHER HUMAN? Tell me, because I can’t think of anything. People want to act like crazy, they are going to be treated like they are crazy and the Police are going to PROTECT AND SERVE. I am a DC resident and have lived in the DC Area since I was a kid. It has gotten MUCH BETTER here but the police are going to have to do what they got to do to make sure this spike of murders doesn’t return. DC is doing to much to try to turn itself around as far as the image problem the city has had and the reputation for having some pretty rough neighborhoods.

I know you are one of those "anti police anti establishment" people from reading your blogs and fighting the powers that be.

DC HAS tried to address the issues that cause violence, they tried to ban guns in the city and that got shot down and people were outraged.

Yes, this is a short term solution to what has and always be a long term problem, but the root of the problem lies with the parents and the values these kids in the inner DC area are holding dear.
