Sounds like Ice Tea a lil’ bit. the grimy Industrial sampling is pretty good too.
Awesome Dre was a BEAST back in the day!! I loved him, Kaos & Maestro, Smiley, DMW, AWOL, Esham…all the old school Detroit cats!! Much respect!!
i was raised on all this shit…my peoples was cool with kaos and mystro!!!
i been tryin to get “you can’t hold me back” on cd for a while now, i got it on vinyl when it first came out and i used to pump that to death….wonder where he is now, last i remember he was interviewed by the source in the midst of the battle vs eminem a couple years back…
Awesome Dre was the first hip hop act from Detroit to break. He was well-known around the MidWest as that next guy. Had videos and everything. His rhymes were very precise and provacative for 89. He was waaaay before his time. Great rapper. One of my favorites.
bronxrap.com blog section new video by tymes skware look at the camoes and leave a comment
Awesome Dre was stupid fresh. Now if someone has a link to AWOL or even better Kaos and Mystro we’ll really be jammin. Too bad most cats in the D now are trying to make some crunk or b.s. pimptrikganstaclik.
PS What ya’ll know about Billy T and the Rap Blast
i met awesome dre at a public enemy concert in 99/2000 at st. andrew’s hall. (he approached me thinking i was DJ house shoes or something?) anyhow he was real cool and a long time ago, it was a thrill to see them rockin that Bad Boys and Detroit stuff on BET in his video. respect!
YO, JUST WANTED TO SHOUT YOU OUT ON THIS ONE.. TAKING IT BACK TO EARLY RAP DAYS OF THE MOTER CITY!!!
Mad respect to you Illseed for givin props to Awesome Dre. I’m not from Detroit but somehow I heard about him way out here in Cali.
for off this is kewl.. but, i hope u don’t mind what im about to type, it’s just a lil correction… awesome dre’ was from the late 90’s… he said “i’m awesome dre’/ the coolest muthafucka since ice trays/ i’m havin nice days/ home is where my hat lays/ ladies praise/ ruckus out of rage…” sorry for spittin his shi, i get like that from time to time…
Yo, Awesome Dre was hard, but Merciless Amir’s cut “A Day Without A Rhyme,” also deserves some recognition. This is the only record ever to have Martin Circus and Rakim on the same track. Shout out to da Boy Merciless….
